Signs of a slab leak
- A warm patch on the floor, often in a hallway
- The sound of running water with every fixture off
- A water bill that jumps with no change in use
- Cracks appearing in flooring, or damp carpet with no spill
- Water pressure that has dropped across the house
How we handle it
- Confirm there is a leak
We isolate the house and watch the meter, so you are not paying to chase a leak that is not there.
- Pinpoint it
Electronic and acoustic equipment narrows the leak to a spot, so we break as little concrete as possible.
- Choose the repair
A spot repair, a reroute of that line overhead, or a repipe — we explain the trade-offs and the price of each.
- Repair and restore
We make the repair, pressure test the line and close the work area up.
Why San Antonio gets so many slab leaks
Much of Bexar County sits on expansive clay. It swells in heavy rain and shrinks hard in drought, and that constant movement bends the copper lines cast into the slab until a pinhole opens. Add hard water and older thin-wall copper, and slab leaks turn up often in homes built from the 1970s through the 1990s.
Think you have a slab leak? First steps
If water is coming up through the floor, shut off the main valve. If the warm spot is over a hot line, turn the water heater off too. Then do not let anyone break concrete until the leak has been pinpointed. Our slab leak guide walks through the first hour step by step, and leak detection explains how we find the break.
Where we repair slab leaks
Across San Antonio and the surrounding towns, including Helotes, Converse, Schertz and Universal City. The clay soil is the same across the county, and so is the pattern of leaks we find.
What it costs
It depends on what the problem turns out to be, so we diagnose first. Your plumber then gives you an upfront price for the work, and you approve it before anything starts.
Questions people ask
Can it be fixed without breaking my floor?
Often yes. Rerouting the affected line above ground avoids opening the slab. It is not right for every layout, so we price both options for you.
Will my insurance cover it?
Policies differ. Many cover the resulting water damage rather than the pipe itself. We document what we find and what we repaired so you can file with your insurer.
Is it urgent?
Yes. A slab leak keeps running under the house, wastes water continuously and can soften the ground under the foundation.
